| A Smart Q&A open platform Climatedeal.org is an open (and free) platform for the exchange of information on climate change related issues. It provides a forum for anyone interested and knowledgeable or currently working on the topic to ask and answer questions about climate change. Unlike typical forums which list posts chronologically, climatedeal.org shows answers based on the ratings of its users. The answers rated most helpful are shown at the top of the page just under the question, making it easy to identify the best answer and most useful information. It also provides an opportunity for users to earn reputation badges for the quality of their contribution. The site is "search engine friendly". This means a question typed into Google will display relevant answers posted on climatedeal.org among the top search results. For those interested in learning and sharing knowledge about climate change Climatedeal.org is for anyone - individuals, academics and professionals. It is both for those interested in learning more about climate change issues and for those willing to share their knowledge. Our aim is to create a dynamic community site which enables users to share and expand their expertise. Anyone can post questions or answers, without having to register or log in. However, only registered users are able to collect points to rate questions or answers and increase their reputation in the community.
Questions we are looking for Any question about climate change is welcome, as long as it is:
When you ask a question, the software will automatically show you a list of similar questions. Please take a moment to see if someone else has asked (or even answered) the same question before posting your own. If you do end up posting a duplicate question, that is OK. Other users will probably add a comment to your question that points you, and other readers, to the earlier question just to be helpful. You may also ask questions about how to use the site, like How do I sign up for an OpenID. If you do ask a how-to question, then please tag it with the “faq” tag. That way all the how-to questions will show up in the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section of this site. In case you want to share a topic that might be of interest for the rest of the community, just remember to phrase it in the form of a question. In this case, you will effectively answer your own question. Answers we are looking for Your answers can be brief or extensive - this depends on the question. Answers can be in an open text format but you are most welcome to add pictures or links to other websites. Regardless of how you choose to answer, please remember the following:
Questions we want to avoid Climatedeal.org is not a discussion forum. Although we realise that many topics associated with climate change may carry some debate, avoid questions which may lead to lengthy arguments, heated discussions, or opinionated answers. You can help by voting up helpful questions and answers or flagging inappropriate ones (requires 15 reputation points), voting unhelpful posts down (100 reputation points), vote to close a question (3000 reputation points), and even delete closed questions (10,000 reputation points).
Building your reputation on climatedeal.org Cimatedeal.org is run by you. If you want to help improve this site, you can do so by earning 'reputation' based on how much the climatedeal.org community values your contribution and knowledge. The more valuable contributions you add to the site, the more reputation points you will earn from the community and the more recognition you will gain for your expertise. There is no mechanism in the software for administrators or moderators to give anyone reputation - reputation is earned by votes from other users. Working together to maintain quality Like Wikipedia, our site is collaboratively edited. This means that other users can edit your questions and answers.
This is our way to keep the quality of the questions and answers high, and it means giving the most trusted members of the community the ability to merge and edit questions, add up-to-date relevant information, or even just fix nagging typos and punctuation. If you want to be a trusted member, start collaborating and earn enough reputation points from the community!
Collaborative editing really works - check it out: The Web as random acts of kindness by Jonathan Zittrain.
Clever tagging simplifies search and categorisation Think of tags as question categories or topics. Tags automatically organise questions by topic, show related questions and simplify your search.
When you ask a question, you have to provide at least one tag (and maximum five). For instance, you can tag one question climate and policy, another question climate and adaptation, and a third question low-carbon and policy. You can choose to ignore certain tags, like low-carbon, but mark other tags as interesting, like policy. In that case the site will show you more policy questions and fewer low-carbon questions.
Spread your knowledge and become part of the change It's very easy to register
You also can find more how-to type questions and answers here. If you do not find an answer, then post a question and tag it as FAQ.
